Do you also believe that architectural profession is dead?

Well, if you believe in the arguments of the critics, it seems that the architectural profession is either dead or is irrelevant now. I don’t understand a thing, why is that critics are always against the innovations or radical ideas. Be it the critics of any industry, they all have the  issues with experimentation and the adoption of new ideas and technologies. Coming in the context of the architectural industry, according to the  conventional thinking patterns an architect’s work is only limited to drawings.  How many of you support this notion. As far as I believe an architect has more to do with conceptualizing the overall architectural design of the building.

It is true that before the invention and implementation of CAD technology in the AEC industry, the architects had to generate the architectural drawings manually with the assistance of pencil and paper. But that doesn’t mean that the process of developing the drawings shouldn’t be reformed.
The application of CAD drafting services in the architectural projects has only eased the manner in which the drawings are generated, it doesn’t mean that an architect’s work is over now. It is still the architect who conceptualize and design the entire architecture of the building as per the requirements of the owners.

The most important thing that needs to be noticed is that, even though the drafting is done with the assistance of AutoCAD, the drafters or the CAD technicians still work on the instructions given by the architects. Still, what needs to be drawn and how it should be drawn depends upon the design developed by the architect. So how can we say that the architectural profession is  no more relevant.
I firmly believe that the implementation of the latest  technological inventions in the building process  is  adding up to the productivity of the industry. The adoption of building information modeling and the CAD technology by the architects and the engineers have helped in  transforming the construction methods. All the pre-construction architectural Services Structural Services and MEP drafting services are executed with the support of CAD technology, but that doesn’t mean that architects and engineers are no more required.

I think it’s high time we start ignoring what critics say.
